Reno, Nevada: during air race show Jimmy Leeward's P-51 Mustang Galloping Ghost was thrusted vertically into ground among seated fans on 2011 09 16.

At least 3 people killed. 15 in critical condition.

After this tragedy at Unlimited Class qualifying, the 2011 National Championship Air Races was cancelled.

Last year, during 47-th Annual National Championship Air Races in Reno, another Mustang was lost, yet the pilot George Giboney survived and managed to leave the cock-pit.
