Migratory birds crash-land on Utah roads, Cedar City, Eared Grebes

Cedar City, Utah: About 1,500 migratory birds crash-landed and died on Monday night Dec 12 2011. Roughly 3,000 Eared Grebes were taken to water and released by Wednesday.

One of the explanations for the rare accident is that due to the storm the flock confused with water the dark surface of yards and roads cleared from snow cover.
